KORVALIS NEWS NETWORK A REVIEW OF ZELENSKA'S FIVE YEAR PLAN The past few weeks have seen a short-lived but violent coup, followed by sweeping reforms. Here at KNN, we have decided to look back at President Zelenska's two years in office and see how her Five Year Plan has shaped out.
- Anti-Corruption Bill - President Zelenska's primary campaign promise was to tackle corruption within the government. The Anti-Corruption Bill allowed politicians, military leaders, and police chiefs to be arrested and charged for corruption-related crimes. At first decried by political opponents as an attempt to silence political opposition, the bill has led to the arrest of several of President Zelenska's allies in office.
- Open Border Bill - President Zelenska's second campaign promise was to end the period of isolation and closed borders. Citizens of Korvalis and other nations may now enter and leave the nation at will.
- Tourism Industry Creation Bill - paired with the Open Border Bill, this called for the creation of a tourism industry, leading to the creation of new jobs and added revenue.
- Improved Infrastructure Bill - Roads, highways, bridges, airports, ports, and railways were improved and expanded upon. Critical bottlenecks were addressed.
- Industrial Modernization Bill - Rapidly implement new production methods, technologies, and automation, and address operational and administrative inefficiencies.
- Expanded Domestic Oil Production Bill - Tripled the number of oil derricks and allowed for expanded oil drilling.
- Military Modernization Bill - Create and implement new military technologies, expand military forces, equip the military with modernized equipment, shift the army towards a mechanized force instead of an infantry force. Also improved training standards and modernized military bases.
- Military Political Officer Bill - Done directly in response to the attempted coup, this bill creates the position of Military Political Officers. Political Officers serve in battalion and larger-sized units to ensure morale, cohesion, and loyalty.
President Karine Zelenska and Vice President Aleksander Nykolaichuk (another Hero of Korvalis) ran on a campaign of promising sweeping reforms to improving the lives of Korvalisians, and the past two years have shown they are capable of delivering on their promises.

KORVALIS NEWS NETWORK KORVALIS REACHES OUT TO NEIGHBORS ABOUT EXPANDING TRAIN ROUTES The People's Republic of Korvalis is well-known for its efficient, well-funded, and intricately planned public transit system. Buses, taxis, subways, and rail transport (such as high-speed rail, intercity rail, regional rail, urban rail, and even monorails) provide such an efficient means of transportation that less than 25% of the Korvalisian population even owns a private vehicle. However, despite the efficiency of the national train routes, critical bottlenecks at the nation's borders are causing supply chain problems.
To address this issue, the Central Committee has been deliberating the past few days and sought the expertise of railway experts. This morning they announced their plan to reach out to the Galactic Federation of Odinburgh, the Federation of Capoltia, and the Grand Duchy of Saint Jews to connect more railways for freight and passenger lines (high-speed bullet trains in particular).

KORVALIS NEWS NETWORK PEOPLE'S LIBERATION AIR FORCE UNVEILS AI-CONTROLLED MOTHERSHIPS The Korvalis People's Liberation Air Force unveiled a massive unmanned aerial warship during Operation Dragon Rising, code-named "Pazuzu". Designed as a flying wing with a wingspan measuring 1,200 meters across, the Pazuzu aerial warship has 10 contra-rotating propellers and the capacity to launch up to 250 drone fighters from its underside. It is powered by numerous banks of lithium-ion batteries and utilizes solar panels to recharge the batteries, providing it with almost infinite loiter time. A highly advanced electronic counter-measure suite and electronic warfare suite allows it to jam communications, radars, and radar-guided munitions. It's weapon systems are classified, but has been hinted at being able to intercept and destroy incoming fighters and missiles. While a ground crew can control the Pazuzu, it's onboard AI-system allows it to operate autonomously.
There are a total of four planned aerial warships of this class, with the second scheduled for trial runs this week, and the remaining two nearing completion. The Korvalis People's Liberation Air Force has hinted at more aerial warship classes in the future, but did not provide specific details.

KORVALIS NEWS NETWORK PLANE FORCED TO MAKE EMERGENCY LANDING A flight to the nation's capital of Ostrodańsk was forced to divert and make an emergency landing earlier this morning after an unruly drunk passenger assaulted flight attendants. The man, whose name has not been publicly released, is a 24 years old citizen of Rhodelandia. The man became irate when a flight attendant refused to provide him with more alcohol and began to verbally threaten the flight attendant. He claimed to be a sovereign citizen and that regulations did not apply to him. When the flight attendant still refused to provide him with more alcohol, he assaulted the flight attendant and broke her nose, and assaulted three more flight attendants before being restrained and apprehended by a sky marshal.
The man was arrested for one count of aggravated assault causing bodily damage, three counts of assault, and one count of interference with flight crew members and attendants. If convicted, the man could face upwards of 20 years in prison. KORVALIS NEWS NETWORK
CONSTRUCTION CREW DISCOVERS EXTENSIVE UNDERGROUND BUNKER COMPLEX A construction crew on the outskirts of Ostrodańsk made a startling discovery earlier today when they discovered an extensive underground bunker complex. City officials had no knowledge of the bunker's presence, and no records were found in local records. After an exhaustive search through classified government and military records, it was discovered that the bunker was constructed 70 years ago as a top secret experiment performed by the previous government.
One thousand volunteers (who had no living relatives) were sealed away in the bunker complex and told they remain in the complex for a full year. Unbeknownst to the test subjects, the test was actually supposed to last a full decade to see how people would react in such a scenario. The bunkers were designed to be self-sufficient: twenty floors in total, with ultraviolet lights growing produce, advanced (for its time) water and air filtration, and a small nuclear reactor to provide power.
The majority of government and military officials with knowledge of the experiment were killed when their plane crashed shortly after leaving the test site. The last handful of those with knowledge of the experiment were killed during the November Revolution only months later. Further examination has hinted that Tsar Yvan VIII (known colloquially as Yvan the Insane) might have ordered a fighter jet to shoot down the plane.
Government officials are in the process of excavating the entrance of the bunker, which was buried by researchers in an attempt to prevent unwanted interference. More news as the story develops.

KORVALIS NEWS NETWORK OFFICIALS MAKE GRUESOME DISCOVERY IN UNDERGROUND BUNKER
Government officials made a gruesome discovery in the underground bunker. As soon as the massive hermetically sealed steel doors opened, officials were immediately greeted with corpses strewn about the complex. A preliminary investigation has found no survivors, and they believe that a violent power struggle led to total annihilation of the bunker's population decades ago. Workers will be working through the night to remove the corpses so they can be counted and given a proper burial. Investigators are in the process of determining what exactly happened.

INVESTIGATORS HAVE DETERMINED CHAIN OF EVENTS IN BUNKER
Investigators have determined the sequence of events that led to the massacre within the underground bunker. After five years, three months, and fourteen days of being underground, there were two political powers that arose within the bunker. One party, called the Isolationists, wished to remain within the bunker, believing that some tragedy or apocalyptic event had led to the demise of society above, and that was why they were still in the bunker. The second party, called the Socialites, wished to leave the bunker, believing that they had been forgotten about or that perhaps the experiment was to see how long it would take for them to leave the bunker.
The disagreements turned heated, and eventually led to massive bloodshed. Only five men survived, all from the Socialities party. When they opened the bunker's outer door, they realized that they had been buried in. In despair, they then resealed the doors, wrote down a testament of the events that transpired, and took turns shooting themselves in the head with a revolver.
The bodies of 1,127 people were recovered, indicating that they had managed to reproduce before the massacre occurred. President Zelenska expressed shock and grief at the inhumane experiment that was carried out by the Tsar, and vowed to have government and military records scoured to determine if more of these bunkers exist.

KORVALIS NEWS NETWORK PRESIDENT ZELENSKA VISITS SVATARSK MEMORIAL ON 70TH ANNIVERSARY Today marks the 70th anniversary of the Svatarsk Massacre. President Zelenska visited the memorial to lay a wreath and gave a speech commemorating the tragic anniversary. She met with survivors of the massacre and spoke with Dhazhyn chieftains.
Background: In 1952, Tsar Yvan VIII decreed that a motorway be built through Dhazhyn migration routes, specifically through the region of Svatarsk. Svatarsk is the region where all the Dhazhyn clans would meet during midsummer for their two week gathering, making it a culturally significant location. The Tsar declared that the Dhazhyn must vacate the region by June 15th, 1952, for the construction crews to begin their work. Instead, dozens of Dhazhyn clans gathered in solidarity to protest the action. On June 16th, riot police arrived and attempted to disperse the Dhazhyn. Instead, the Dhazhyn held their ground, refusing to give an inch, and numerous clashes occurred with police between June 16th and June 18th.
On the morning of June 18th, Tsar Yvan VIII mobilized the Imperial Guard and sent them to Svatarsk. The Dhazhyn continued to ignore orders from police and military officials to disperse. At 12:08pm, the Imperial Guard opened fire on the crowd. They continued firing for four minutes, until a cease fire was issued at 12:12pm. 351 men, women, and children lost their lives, with over a thousand wounded by bullets, and a hundred more injured from being trampled. Official reports state that the Dhazhyn had thrown large rocks at the troops, causing numerous injuries. The Dhazhyn claimed that they had been peacefully protesting and chanting when the troops suddenly opened fire.
The nation was outraged by the massacre, and widespread protests and riots broke out in every city. The Svatarsk Massacre was the flashpoint for the civil unrest between June and November, and served as the catalyst for the November Revolution. Following the November Revolution, soldiers and police that had been involved in the massacre were tried and executed for war crimes, along with the Tsar and his family. It came to light during these trials that the military received orders from the Tsar himself to open fire on the crowd, and attempted to shift blame on the Dhazhyn instead.

KORVALIS NEWS NETWORK MORE UNDERGROUND BUNKERS DISCOVERED It was discovered earlier this morning that the underground experiment bunker is one of a dozen such bunkers built 70 years ago during Tsar Yvan VIII's reign. Korvalis crews are in the process of excavating the entrances, and are hoping to find survivors. According to previously classified records, the bunkers vary in size and population. The thousand-man bunker discovered earlier this week was the largest of said bunkers, with rest of the bunkers having an initial population of less than 100.
More news on this story as it unfolds.
