The Korvalis Armed Forces, formerly known as the Korvalis People's Liberation Forces, have finished a major overhaul with its organization and ranks. Leftover communist influence, such as political commissars, have been removed from the military, and the rank structures have been revised with new ranks added to the fold.
In related news, the Korvalis Armed Forces have unveiled a pair of new Pazuzu aerial warships that are nearing construction. The Air Force's plan is to assign one Pazuzu to each of the seven active-duty theater commands.

Members of the inactive reserves will also be given the chance to re-mobilize in the active or reserve forces.

KORVALIS NEWS NETWORK KORVALIS ARMED FORCES ANNOUNCE MAJOR EXPANSION Following several high-profile defense deals with the Evergreen Republic and Pac Derman, the Korvalis Armed Forces will be applying some of that money towards expanding the Army. The National Assembly also voted earlier to increase the salaries of servicemembers, and will begin implementing higher paying bonuses to incentivize more volunteers to join and to retain highly-skilled servicemembers.
KORVALIS SOUND SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM (SOSUS) FULLY OPERATIONAL Testing of Korvalis's new Sound Surveillance System, or SOSUS for short, has been completed as of this evening. The SOSUS is a multilayered network of passive sonars and hydrophone arrays capable of detecting the low frequency noises produced by diesel and nuclear submarines. This system allows naval forces to detect and track submarines hundreds of miles away. The computer systems can automatically identify submarine classes, and as the database continues to grow, it will soon be able to identify submarines individually.

KORVALIS NEWS NETWORK PRESIDENT ZELENSKA HANDS OUT NATIONAL MEDALS FOLLOWING DELAYS At a government luncheon, President Zelenska awarded numerous awards of the state earlier today after delays caused by the government change. The awards included two Orders of the State, five Citizens Medals, eight National Medals of Arts, eleven National Humanities Medals, and twelve National Medals of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Innovation.
A single Order of the Gold Star was awarded posthumously to Sergeant Volodymyr Savenko, an Army military policeman who tackled a suicide bomber into a ditch and saved dozens of civilian lives during the Romanic Imperium wars. The award was accepted by his family.
Savenko's name will be engraved on the Wall of Heroes, alongside President Zelenska's and Vice President Nykolaichuk's names.

KORVALIS NEWS NETWORK Korvalis Decommissions Older Nuclear Reactors President Zelenska made a promise August 18th of this year to reduce reliance on nuclear power plants and to increase the usage of eco-friendly, renewable sources of energy.
The nation has successfully decommissioned its older reactors while increasing its green energy production. Energy produced by nuclear power plants has been reduced from 85% to 60%, and renewable energy sources have increased from 15% to 40%.
In related news, research and testing into aviation biofuels has shown great promise, and scientists believe that full-scale production may begin as soon as the end of the year.

Korvalis Coast Guard Rolls Out Eight New Icebreakers The Korvalis Coast Guard rolled out eight new icebreakers today. These ships were ordered in anticipation of the coming winter and the need to keep harbors and ports cleared.
Korvalis Ballistic Subs Loaded with New Missiles The Korvalis Navy has finished the task of replacing its aging submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBM). The previous missiles were single-warhead missiles with a 100kt yield and a range of 8,000km. The newer missiles will now implement eight 300kt multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles (MIRV) each, and an increased range of 12,000km.
In keeping with past tradition onboard ballistic subs, only 20 of the 24 vertical launch tubes will house an SLBM, with the remaining four tubes holding 7 cruise missiles each.

Korvalis Aerospace Industries Rolls Out New Coast Guard Helicopter The Korvalis Coast Guard is receiving a brand new helicopter variant, the KAI-72J. Previously, the Coast Guard was using the Navy's KAI-72H, which presented issues with search and rescue operations due to its not so stellar range, heavy weight, and difficulties with installing a rescue hoist.
The KAI-72J resolves these issues by including a pre-installed rescue hoist, external fuel tanks, reduced cabin size, and newer lightweight alloys.
The Coast Guard will send its fleet of KAI-72H helicopters to the Navy, which will be converted back into anti-submarine helicopters.

Terrorist Attack Leaves Over a Hundred Dead A terrorist attack at the Deza International Airport has left over a hundred dead and three hundred wounded. Three suicide bombers detonated their vests in the crowded airport lobby, killing and wounding hundreds. So far no group has taken responsibility for the attacks. Numerous federal agencies are investigating the attack, with the People's Special Investigations Bureau leading the investigation. President Zelenska stated at a press conference minutes after being informed of the attack, "We will find those responsible for this cowardly attack, and we will hold them accountable to the fullest extent of the law."

KORVALIS NEWS NETWORK Terrorist Attack Kills 114, Wounds 363, KRA Takes Credit for Attack Last night's terrorist bombings at the Deza International Airport has claimed the lives of 114 people, with another 363 wounded. This afternoon, a video was released by a radical sect of the Korvalis Republican Army (an anti-communist organization), where Myroslav Onyshchenko claimed responsibility for the bombings.
Myroslav claimed that the bombings were in retaliation for the re-institution of communism in Korvalis, and stated more attacks would continue until communism was permanently ended in the nation. Furthermore, Myroslav called President Zelenska a traitor to her people, and should be forcibly removed from office.
In response, President Zelenska branded the Korvalis Republican Army as a terrorist organization, and ordered the immediate round-up of all known and suspected members of the KRA. The government is offering the public a ₭10,000 bounty for any information leading to the arrest of members of the KRA, and a ₭100,000 for information leading to the arrest of Myroslav Onyshchenko.

This is a developing story. 12:10pm - President Zelenska and Vice President Nykolaichuk confirmed shot, rushed to hospital. Gunman is in custody. 12:30pm - Vice President Aleksandr Nykolaichuk pronounced dead. President Karina Zelenska listed in critical condition. 12:34pm - Speaker of the People's National Assembly, Maksym Kravchenko, to become Acting President.
Internal Troops, National Guard activated Acting Preisdent Maksym Kravchenko, in light of recent events, declared a federal state of emergency and activated the National Guard. The National Guard will assist the Internal Troops in maintaining peace and order, as well as assisting police in arresting members of the Korvalis Republican Army. Furthermore, Kravchenko raised the bounties of each KRA member from ₭10,000 to ₭25,000, and the bounty for radical leader Myroslav Onyshchenko from ₭100,000 to ₭1,000,000.
Witnesses describe harrowing scene Witnesses at the St. Michael's Cathedral stated that the gunman managed to smuggle in a snub-nose .38 revolver inside a specially modified news camera. While President Zelenska was delivering her memorial speech, the gunman retrieved the gun and fired three bullets in quick succession. Vice President Nykolaichuk saw the man as he pulled out his revolver, and dove to shove Zelenska out of the way. Two bullets struck the President, once in the chest and once in the right shoulder, while the third round struck the Vice President in the head.

Today, we failed in that duty, and I take full responsibility for the failures that led to today's tragedy."
Acting President Kravchenko activates all military, law enforcement special operations units to assist in taking down KRA Minutes after hearing the news of First Parish, Acting President Kravchenko ordered an emergency virtual meeting with the Central Military Commission. Minutes after the meeting ended, orders began to pass down to activate all military and law enforcement special operations units (including reserve and national guard units) to assist the Ministry of Justice and Public Security and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in their efforts to arrest or neutralize members of the KRA and any other terrorist organization operating within their borders.
