RECENT 'UNOFFICIAL' LOBBYING BY A FOREIGN ALLIANCE IN REGIONAL DISCORD
Recently our nation was approached by an outside power in regards to Declansburg's membership in a foreign alliance. This proposition was made unofficially, by a candidate for office (foreign affairs minister) in the United Region Alliance. We were asked to keep this solicitation secret by the nation who proposed our membership. In good conscience, we have disclosed the nature of this matter in to some nations in Parliament on the regional Discord. We are extending this disclosure to Parliament as a whole on the offsite forums.
Said alliance is known as the United Region Alliance. The nation who made this unofficial proposal is The Middle-Earth Republic of United States of Gondor. This nation recently engaged in a lengthy back and forth on our discord thread attempting to lobby for Declansburg's membership in the URA. We voiced our strong opposition to membership in the URA after reviewing their binding constitution, which:
However, we also informed this nation that these matters are decisions of the Parliament. We have pledged not to propose membership in any alliance that would strip sovereignty from the region we love. And we conduct this briefing in the best interest of the region.
Here's the URA Charter that we strongly objected to.
USE OF DISCORD FOR INFORMAL DISCUSSIONS
Some nations (myself included) in Parliament are often taking to the regional discord for daily informal discussions. Of course, the offsite forums are where official matters are discussed. That said, we have a private Parliament channel reserved for Parliamentary nations who join the discord. If you're interested, the link is in the regional factbook. I've also pasted it below.

As a friendly reminder, Parliament nations in Declansburg are of high standing in this region and are leaders, and we should remember this as we conduct our daily affairs. We have almost 275 nations. - dictates WA voting for WA Delegates in the alliance AND
- gives the founder of the alliance the ability to pass sweeping executive orders
