Born out of the counter culture boom of the 60s, The Discordian Church has grown into a vast community despite many challenges over the decades.
Originating in Michigan, the first Discordian communes were loosely organized LSD cults. While they were happy to do drugs in the woods and live peacefully with the surrounding communities, many Protestant leaders were incensed.
Eventually tensions ran too high and under the direction of the first Saint of the church, Lord Amadeus Tiberia Protector of the Duck, lead the Discordians onto the first of several pilgrimages to find a new place to settle.
Originally traveling to California before they turned the congregation away, they traveled to Texas. Along the way, the religion was codified and many disillusioned young people continued to join
In Texas they lived for almost two decades. This wasn't without its challenges, as Evangelicals continued to harass, but in the 70s the FBI began to investigate the church for its communist tendencies.
All this came to a head in the 80s when Amadeus was assassinated. The frightened Discordians took to the seas, living on boats as they sailed into diaspora. Eris would never find safe harbor in America ever again.
The main Armada traveled across the Atlantic, up the African Coast and eventually find its home in the Baltic Sea, especially around Poland. Here they would stay, sailing and fishing in international waters and continuing to grow
Somewhere along the way they also gained a sizable population of Jews. No one really knows how or why and every time they're asked they do this thing where they point at something behind you and when you look they run away. After they did that five or six times, the Discordians gave up trying to argue and had them paint their ship the proper colors and the FTF Tevlihev was admitted into the Armada.
They also claim to be from Kurdistan, but most people think they're probably lying about that.
Now however the war in Ukraine has forced the Discordians to once again weigh anchor. Once again in exile, the Discordians are eager for a true homeland and are looking towards Declansburg as a possibility. No one is sure what this newest chapter will bring, but the long suffering church is eager to face whatever challenges loom over the horizon.
