Romanic has requested a return of Jaguar and Atalanta to the Romanic Imperium from a prison in the NR. I have accepted to hear case and learn the exact reasons of why the release of these two men. \In fact in my last ruling it was ordered they be in a prison in the Evergreen Republic. Apparently a lot of events have happened since then. Staidear will be representing Romanic.

Let me guess Jaguar and Atalanta got married while in prison. Is there a kid involved?

We extradited Jaguar and Atalanta to the Nationale Republik to stand trial for similar charges to those they faced in the Evergreen Republic.

As was heavily stated during the last trial, Romanic Imperium committed despicable acts and the leaders responsible have been charged by two countries and are presently serving mandatory life sentences. Any excuses presented here and any decisions made to overturn these convictions in any way only serve as a distraction from justice.

Does Romanic's attorney have a good reason to return these two individuals? As I ruled previously they must serve their lifetime sentences. In this matter this is under NR jurisdiction which is separate from the other ruling.

In this matter this is under NR jurisdiction which is separate from the other ruling. Ah yes, there is the possibility that they may be mistreated within NR's prisons. Both Atalanta and Jaguar have done their damage, both to Romanic and other nations. They are seen as criminals the world over. With that in mind, they have been deemed guilty by the international courts. Is it not time that they have their day in the courts of their homeland as well?
They have already been replaced within the power structure. Romanic pledges that Atalanta and Jaguar will face their local laws and be punished accordingly. They will not be given any leadership role in any capacity. Please, let them answer for their crimes domestically.

The allegations of mistreatment in NR prisons is a first to my ears. I like to know what evidence you have to support this claim. I would like to hear from NR on this also.

Mistreatment inside NR prisons of any prisoners โ foreign and domestic โ is nonexistent. We do not condone any unlawful acts which would impede the rights of any prisoners in our institutions. They are all treated like human beings, with dignity and respect. We feel this is only yet another attempt to allow a nation charged with terroristic acts upon other nations a pass without reprimand.
These accusations are without merit and the defense is way out of their league at accusing the nation of which serves as our regionโs Prime Minister of such despicable acts.
This wanting Jaguar and Atalanta to โhave their dayโ in their own courts is not acceptable to the nations theyโve attacked. This is part of their ploy you get them set free.

Evergreen Counsel interjects.
"I'm sorry but the court must hear this. The Evergreen Republic asserts that it is absolutely absurd to assume that Jaguar and Atalanta will face any form of "justice" in Romanic Imperium. Both Jaguar and Atalanta surrendered in return for their lives. That surrender is just that, a surrender. A pledge to give up the fight. Now we want to send them back to the nation they ruled? My goodness. Well, I'll tell you what. If that happenes...it will be very likely that Jaguar and Atalanta's "surrender" will be seen as null and void by The Evergreen Republic. If the war criminals before this court are able to successfully argue their release to a nation they once controlled we will implore an Evergreen Court to seek the death penalty for Jaguar and Atalanta.
The over 14 billion inhabitants of The Evergreen Republic could never stand for such a miscarriage of justice. Former members of Jaguar's administration still preside over the country. The notion that Jaguar and Atalanta should be released to Romanic custody is an offense to this court and should be treated as such. The Evergreen Republic asks the court dismiss this appeal, which seeks to -- in effect -- undermine a rightful conviction and sentencing."

We have only stated that there is a possibility of mistreatment. They are, after all, war criminals being held in a nation against which they have committed said crimes.
We do not deny the crimes they have committed. Nor will we deny that their actions were abhorrent, that is not what is up for debate here. We understand not wanting to extradite the prisoners based on their life sentences. However, as previously stated, they will not be set free, nor will they be returned to power. My client has assured me that they will face harsh sentencing if returned.
We are not asking to overturn convictions, rightful convictions, that have already been placed on Jaguar and Atalanta. We only wish to see them face justice in all nations affected by their crimes.

The Evergreen Republic has no further comments other than this: "We doubt that Jaguar and Atalanta will face justice in Romanic Imperium. However, we will respect the ruling of this court."

The NR does not even in the slightest believes Jaguar and Atalanta will be held accountable for anything by their nationโs justice system. They should remain where they are now, in prison, where they ought to be.
