Randovia - The mood in the air over Clandestinople remains tense.
Less than two weeks ago, this ancient Dáxlamic region was controlled an enemy who would go on to be eradicated by moderation. And while The Evergreen Republic's flag now flies over the region, many of the region's Dáxlamic natives remain unsatisfied.
The call for revenge is being led by a Dáxlamic High Priest named Goru.
Goru's rhetoric, calling for Dux Bradford John to continue his advance, has resonated with a brutalized peoples.
"The demons from The Planet X were led by a psychotic dictator who salted our lands, desecrated our faith, and defiled our Dux," Goru said in his latest sermon, delivered to members of The Radiant Armed Forces stationed in Clandestinople from New Bradfordsburg. "This is an evil that will threaten us until we are ready to confront it. Never again can we suffer this fate."
Goru's words, calling for revenge, are met with resounding cheers from the rank and file of The Evergreen Republic's military. The scene highlights the reality of a region and an empire uncertain of what lies ahead.
The Unsettling Truth
SpenZerous was wiped off the face of the map on Dec. 5 after their leader, King Geedorah, who jointly served as The Controller of The Planet X, launched what the moderators considered as death threats against The Dux. While King Geedorah's nations have been deleted, and his region thrown into turmoil, an unsettling truth remains for New Bradfordsburg.
"Our enemy did not surrender. They did not cease hostilities," The Dux said to The Post in an exclusive interview this week. "The moderators have lots of power, but they cannot make the individual decisions for a misguided individual."
The Dux said The Evergreen Republic must think differently about the future in light of this month's events.
"We don't have the luxury to be reactive anymore," he said. "This is not the time to accept apologies."
The Dux wouldn't say whether or not The Dáxlamic Empire would continue their advance against former strongholds of King Geedorah, but he inferred that options remain on the table.
"If we choose to continue our campaign, it is our decision alone. And we would do so at a time of our choosing. We are a capable nation," the Dux said. "That's all I'm going to say about matters of national security. We must change topics."
The words were few but the message was clear: the Evergreen Republic is a changed nation.
An Uncertain Future
In The Planet X, matters of state have been turned sideways since the deletion of the region's controller. Embassy requests have been reported to be in disarray as news of the reasons behind the founder's deletion circulates throughout regional capitals. Gorman Pow, a senior defense analyst who served in The Radiant as an advisor in Dux Bradford John's military cabinet, said The Planet X is right where The Evergreen Republic wants them.
"The region is founderless," Pow said. "And now they've closed themselves off to the world with a password."
Pow said The Evergreen Republic's intelligence apparatus is widespread and that New Bradfordsburg's capabilities should not be underestimated.
"People underestimate New Bradfordsburg at their own peril," he said. "That's why The Planet X seems to be taking no chances."
While Pow said he doesn't know what The Dux will do, he said The Spiritual Father has a long memory.
"Not too long ago New Bradfordsburg tried to liberate Sparrow," he said. "That's an ancient agenda that has remain unchanged, so I wouldn't expect them to just move on."
A Restless People
Samanthalán's sporting events have been the latest sites of spontaneous patriotism.
Basketball was second on the minds of faithful fans during Friday night's tip off of the NBBA Finals, between the Samanthalán Mongeese and the Nikitalan Pointers. Thousands of fans chanted slogans like "Boneyard!" as the game kicked off, a taunting reminder of SpenZerous's sorry status as a deleted nation.
Even after the game, star players from the Pointers used the podium to speak about current affairs after winning Game 1 in dramatic, buzzer beating fashion.
"We got the win tonight," said Daxal Sila, the all-star point guard for Nikitalan. "Any time you can come out of this city with a win it's a big deal. That crowd doesn't like us but we have nothing but love for the Dux's city tonight."
Sila, who scored 31 points in the Pointers 131-130 win, was asked about his contributions in the contest but he stayed committed to sharing his personal thoughts.
"No, see, you're asking about a game. That's just it. This is a game. But what those people were chanting tonight, that's real. That's real feeling. That's how I feel too."
