The proposed system I am offering to the region has existed previously in another region where another nation and I created the system in. Certain members currently in this region may remember their time in Novus Lucidum where we used this system.
This system will grant features to nations within Declansburg that would use the stats they have on their NationStates account. These features would include resources from statistics like Agriculture, Fishing, Mining, Environmental Beauty, and Timber wood chipping. As for crafting, this would primarily use the manufacturing stats (for civilian based items), Arms Manufacturing, Scientific Advancement, etc.
By reaching a certain level in a stat, a nation would unlock the ability to craft/gather the resource/item. Many of you have seen the Advanced Submarine crafting thread which shows an example of the crafting system.
The purpose of the system is to limit powergaming by outlining the limits of a nation in what they can realistically do. That doesn't mean that if you lack the necessary stats for something that you are out of luck, as you can still RP with other nations to get what you want. It also doesn't mean you can't RP as something lesser than your stats (ie. Playing a nation with a small population when you have the stats of a larger population. But you cannot RP have a larger population when you have the stats of a smaller population.)
For the crafting system, even though someone may have statistically better equipment than you doesn't mean you cannot beat them. There are other factors that could help you beat them such as strategy and tactics.
You can also acquire equipment from other nations, either through purchasing them or via an alliance (with their permission of course). You can also team up with another nation to craft together. This would be done by adding the stats together and averaging it out. In this instance, it would be beneficial for nation A (High Arms, Low Science) to work with nation B (Low Arms, High Science) in order to craft something neither would have been able to craft alone.
Questions are welcomed. Criticism regarding "But I want to do X" isn't appreciated as I have already outlined how you can solve that problem. Other forms of criticism is welcomed though.
Cheers,
Krimera
