Nations Aligned Towards Order (NATO)
NATO is a security organization founded by Pangurstan as well as Victoria & Cascadia. NATO seeks to promote regional stability (particularly in the area of the Northwestern and Southwestern continents), contain and isolate unduly aggressive nations which threaten peace, and generally promote the interests of smaller and less powerful nations when stronger nations threaten them.
NATO's membership is open, we ask that all member nations abide by five articles:
Article 1:
NATO member nations agree to solve their disputes primarily through diplomatic and otherwise peaceful means. If these fail, military action is understood to be a valid last resort.
Article 2:
NATO member nations will work towards military cooperation with each other, and agree to a responsible arms policy. NATO members will work together to develop advanced weapons that can help maintain stability, such as nuclear missiles and large navy vessels.
Article 3:
NATO member nations agree to defend each other in the case of an attack against one or any members. In the case of necessary preventative action to maintain security, NATO members may be asked to provide support, but will not be required.
Article 4:
NATO member nations will cooperate economically, and agree to not shut off trade or transportation between members. NATO nations also will seek to develop their industrial and scientific ability.
Article 5:
NATO member nations agree that if any other alliance limits their ability to reach NATO objectives, they will prioritize NATO objectives.
We also have an observer nation program. For nations who do not want to fully join the organization or do not agree with all 5 articles, they may join the alliance as an observer, who may participate in NATO dialogue and potentially military action. The articles of NATO do not apply to observer nations.
